Day 1
Objectives:
- Syllabus overview, classroom introduction, guidelines for projects, and overview of major projects for the year.
Activities:
- Syllabus overview, learning names.

Day 2
Objectives:
- News broadcast introduction: Students will each choose a piece of equipment they would like to specialize in to start the year.
- Basic instruction on equipment given for entire news broadcast
- Students will learn writing good intro and outros for anchors.
- Multiple versions written and rehearsed
Activities:
- Produce newscast. Hands on with equipment.
Homework:
- Watch a newscast and take notes on all the features you would like to add to the broadcast. Bring in storyboards and ideas.
Day 3
Objectives:
- Students will each learn how to use the CG computer via hands on training.
Activities:
- Produce newscast. Hands on with equipment.
Homework:
- Notes on a news broadcast’s CGs
Day 4
Objectives:
- What makes a newscast? Students will examine a news broadcast in class vs a talk show and dialogue about the differences. They will report their findings to the other news class.
Activities:
- Interactive viewing of recorded newscast
Homework:
- none
Day 5
Objectives:
- Workflow: Students will diagram and explain the structure and workflow of the news broadcast
Activities:
- Hands on in studio and control room making a diagram of connections demonstrating working knowledge of different connections and data flows
Homework:
- Design a daily workflow for the newscast. Prepare to compare next class.
