Art of Film Essay

// August 31st, 2010 // No Comments » // *Everyone

Here are the 3 Essay prompts and write you response to one of them.  You may do more than one but you are only required to do one.

Remember that these must be typed and handed in or they must be turned in via warriorlife.net by sharing it with me.

  1. Why or how is Film important in your life?
  2. Has film ever changed you?
  3. Is film art?

These questions should be answered honestly. I'm not looking for a "right" answer I am looking for you to show me that you are thinking hard about these questions.  So don't repeat what someone said in class, express your ideas for yourself and present them proudly and defend them if they need defending.

Intro Storyboard Homework

storyboard_template_16x9

Above is the storyboard template for your assignment.  I realize that there are a total of 18 spaces on 2 pages but you only have to do 16.

Remember to title each page with the show name, season, and episode title.  If it is a film the title will do.

On your storyboards you need to draw the people as well as some context for where they are.  (simple backgrounds)

Also you can write a short description in the space below the frame itself that is what that space is there for.

Choose the appropriate syllabus for you class obviously.

remember that the movie list is not a list of films you need to see or even should see.  It is a list of influential films that have shaped current filmmaking or have had a very significant impact on society or the film industry.  Many of the films are NOT appropriate and are therefore NOT suggested viewing.

List of Auteurs

// August 30th, 2010 // No Comments » // Assignments, Film Criticism

OK folks! Here is the list. Sorry it was so late I misplaced the drive it was on. Remember not all of these Auteurs are appropriate for study and regardless of what Auteur you choose Everyone needs to get parental permission and my permission to study that Auteur for the semester.

Please take a look at a few you may not be as familiar with and some that may not be your style of filmmaking. The best way to really expand your film intelligence is to get away from only things you like. Friday we will be discussing what Auteurs you will be studying and you will get a permission slip to have signed so you can begin your research.
