Audio Books

The library has many audiobooks (books on CDs) available for student checkout.  No special permission is required and the checkout terms are the same as books.

Kurzweil

We have a limited collection of textbooks and novels in the Kurzweil format for Discovery Center students who qualify to use Kurzweil.  Please speak with Corinne Lake (junior high) or Heidi Vals (high school) if you are interested in signing your student up for Kurzweil.

Playways

A Playaway is a self-playing digital audiobook that measures half the size of a deck of cards. Made of durable plastic, a Playaway unit contains an entire book. The rate of reading, or speed, can be adjusted to meet the student’s needs. “Playaway Pairs” (audiobook plus paperback copy of the book) are excellent tools to support our children’s literary development. “Playaway Pairs” are loaned by the VCS library on a first-come, first-served basis.  Students are required to have a Playaway Permission Slip on file before they can check one out.
